The MOTOROLA MVME167P single-board computer represents the power, flexibility, and performance of CISC-based systems. The MVME167P is based on the MOTOROLA MC68040 and combines a microprocessor with a memory management and floating-point unit. This excellent processing speed and floating-point performance make the MVME167P an ideal solution for scientific and industrial applications.
The new "Petra" application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) replaces functions previously implemented in the MCECC chip and improves the performance of the memory subsystem. The memory configuration switch enables customers to customize the memory size for applications that require a smaller memory configuration.
The MVME167P's compatibility with the existing M68000 family of software enables CISC-based software environments to achieve near-RISC performance levels while maintaining object code compatibility with existing software platforms.
